Welcome to The River Center

This website is designed to connect you to what’s happening at The River Center. The River Center is a place where you can encounter, connect, and serve God and his people. We believe that God’s grace transforms all of us through the miracle of Jesus Christ.

Welcome to a place where “Imperfect people are loving imperfect people and a perfect God is showing us how."

Who Are You?

Many of us will answer this question with a simple, "Oh, I'm Bill, or I'm sorry let me introduce myself, I'm Bridget"  We think nothing of letting people know who we are by giving them our name.  What's in a name?  There are some that name their children after Bible figures, others look up favorite names in books, some might even give a child a name because of the influence of another.  There was a friend of mine that took the names of the parents combined them and that was the name they gave their child.  There was a time when a persons name defined them, actually they were reflections of that persons life.  For example;  Esau to se'ar (hairy), he was like a hairy garment all over; so they called his name Esau. God gave Jacob the new name of Israel (meaning `one who has been strong against God'')

Today there is a name that defines many of us and it's not the one our parents gave us.  This name is like no other name, when mentioned stirs up emotion within the hearer.  Some are filled with joy, others with guilt and some with disdain.  This name is a defining name, a name that gives definition to who you are, this name is Jesus.

One day at the name of Jesus every knee will bow and every tongue confess that He is Lord.  Believing in the name of Jesus has eternal consequences.  The name of Jesus is an offense to those that do not believe.  The name of Jesus is a Rock, a High Tower.  At the name of Jesus demons flee and the enemy scatters.  There is power in that name.  When you take on His name it defines you as more than just a human being that lives and dies, but rather gives definition to who you are.

In Jesus you are more than a conqueror, whether on the job or in the home.  I don't know if we really know what that means.  He has defeated and has overcome everything we have faced, are facing, or ever will face.  The battle has been won and we are walking in His victory.

Who Are You?  Is it the name on your name tag, or is there something more?

Blessings, Warren
